Nexus Ingredient (“the Company”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to conducting business ethically, responsibly, and with respect for human rights.

We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and are committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains.

It applies to:

  • all employees
  • directors and officers
  • contractors and consultants
  • suppliers and manufacturers
  • distributors and logistics providers
  • any third parties acting on behalf of Nexus Ingredient.

All business partners working with Nexus Ingredient are expected to comply with the principles outlined in this policy.

3. Definition of Modern Slavery

Modern slavery refers to situations where individuals are exploited and cannot refuse or leave work due to threats, coercion, deception, or abuse of power.

Forms of modern slavery include:

  • forced labour
  • bonded labour or debt bondage
  • human trafficking
  • child labour
  • servitude
  • exploitative recruitment practices.

These practices are prohibited under international human rights conventions and applicable legislation.

4. Commitment to Human Rights

Nexus Ingredient respects internationally recognised human rights and seeks to operate in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the core labour standards of the International Labour Organization.

We expect our suppliers and business partners to uphold the same standards.

5. Our Operations and Supply Chain

Nexus Ingredient supplies functional food ingredients to the global food and beverage industry.

Our supply chains may include:

  • ingredient manufacturers
  • agricultural producers
  • packaging suppliers
  • contract manufacturers
  • logistics providers.

We recognise that modern slavery risks may arise within global supply chains and therefore adopt a risk-based approach to identifying and managing these risks.

6. Supplier Expectations

Suppliers must comply with Nexus Ingredient’s Supplier Code of Conduct and must not engage in any form of modern slavery.

Suppliers must ensure:

  • employment is freely chosen
  • workers are not charged recruitment fees
  • workers retain control of personal identity documents
  • working conditions comply with labour laws
  • wages meet legal requirements
  • workers are treated with dignity and respect.

Suppliers are expected to communicate these requirements to their own suppliers.

7. Ethical Recruitment Practices

Suppliers must ensure recruitment practices are ethical and transparent.

Suppliers must ensure that:

  • workers are not required to pay recruitment fees
  • employment contracts are provided in a language workers understand
  • migrant workers receive equal protection and fair treatment
  • recruitment agencies operate legally and ethically.

8. Risk Assessment and Due Diligence

Nexus Ingredient undertakes due diligence to identify and address modern slavery risks.

This may include:

  • supplier onboarding procedures
  • supplier questionnaires and documentation reviews
  • assessment of geographic and sector risk
  • engagement with suppliers regarding labour practices.

Where potential risks are identified, Nexus Ingredient will work with suppliers to address and mitigate those risks.

9. Monitoring and Compliance

Nexus Ingredient may verify compliance with this policy through:

  • supplier declarations
  • documentation reviews
  • third-party audits
  • corrective action plans where necessary.

Suppliers are expected to cooperate with reasonable verification requests.

10. Reporting Concerns

Employees, suppliers, and stakeholders are encouraged to report concerns regarding modern slavery or unethical labour practices.

Concerns may include:

  • forced labour
  • human trafficking
  • exploitative recruitment practices
  • unsafe or abusive working conditions.

Nexus Ingredient will investigate credible concerns and take appropriate action where necessary.

11. Remediation

If modern slavery risks or incidents are identified within Nexus Ingredient’s operations or supply chain, appropriate action will be taken.

Actions may include:

  • investigation of the issue
  • engagement with suppliers to address the problem
  • implementation of corrective action plans
  • termination of business relationships where necessary.

The welfare and protection of affected individuals will be prioritised.

12. Training and Awareness
